Darren T. Wheeler, MD received his medical degree and completed his residency in Anatomic Pathology at the University of Washington in Seattle and completed a fellowship in Gynecologic Pathology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland He is currently based in Las Vegas Nevada, where he has been practicing hospital and community-based pathology for over 17 years, supporting Quest Diagnostics’ National Women’s Health Resource Committee and serving as the Vice President of Pathology for Quest Diagnostics and AmeriPath.
Dr. Wheeler has lectured on a variety of women’s health topics around the country, including cervical cancer screening, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), prenatal screening and genetics, and cancer genetics and genomics. He has participated in many educational workshops with clinical colleagues in ACOG and the SGO, partnered with industry in educational programs, supported programs alongside genetic counselors in prenatal screening and genetic predisposition of solid tumor cancer genomics and genetics, and collaborated with health plan teams, meeting with medical liaisons from payers to get on preferred lab status for test offerings.
Dr. Wheeler’s special interests include projects in digital pathology and artificial intelligence, focused on the future potential to improve efficiencies and advance current screening and diagnostic test offerings.
