Michael S. Ruma, MD, MPH, FACOG is a board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist whose top priority is helping women with high-risk pregnancies overcome medical, surgical, or obstetrical problems. He received his medical degree and later completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Creighton University School of Medicine. Dr. Ruma joined Perinatal Associates of New Mexico in 2008 after completing his fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of North Carolina, where he also received a Master of Public Health degree in Health Policy and Administration.
Dr. Ruma is a recipient of numerous awards for excellence in teaching and research, a keynote speaker at conferences on a variety of perinatal topics, and the author of peer-reviewed manuscripts on maternal red blood cell sensitization, effects of periodontal disease on pregnancy, efficiency in obstetric ultrasound performance, PTL standardization and the harmful effect of prior authorization on medical practice.
